Ever lose out on a new job or promotion even though you were the more qualified person? Maybe you're just not likeable.
Rohit Bhargava is this week's "Salary Talk" guest and the author of the recently released book "Likeonomics: The Unexpected Truth Behind Earning Trust, Influencing Behavior, and Inspiring Action." Bhargava contends that likeability has become modern currency and is invaluable to everyone from political candidates to job seekers, making it more necessary now than ever before for people to actively improve their likeability factor in order to succeed.
For instance, let's say you're going for a job and you're up against equally qualified (or more qualified) candidates. While skills are obviously important, Bhargava says likeability is ultimately the trump card when the final decision is made. Skills are crucial for doing the job right, but Bhargava said chemistry is equally important and often the deciding factor for many hiring managers.
Listen for Bhargava's explanation of the 5 key principles that determine likeability, and several anecdotes and real-life examples of how likeability makes a tangible difference in both our personal and professional lives.
