NBC's "Today" and Salary.com Launch "Kathie Lee and Hoda's Mom of the Year Contest with Salary.com"

Salary.com Celebrates the Value of a Mother's Work

WALTHAM, Mass., April 17, 2012 -- Salary.com is excited to celebrate the hard work of moms across the country this Mother's Day, as NBC's "Today" show announced the launch this morning of "Kathie Lee and Hoda's Mom of the Year Contest with Salary.com." Live with Kathie Lee and Hoda on their Thursday, May 10 show, Salary.com will present the Mother of the Year with a Grand Prize check for $112,962 -- a Salary.com calculation of what mothers would make if they were paid an annual salary for their work.

"We all know that the value of a Mother's work exceeds any salary, and we're excited to honor Moms of America," said Abby Euler, general manager at Salary.com. "For any job, including being a mother, it's important to understand the value of what you do -- what employers will pay for your knowledge and skills. What better way to appreciate Mom than to put a real dollar amount on all that she does, both in and out of the home?"

Salary.com surveyed more than 8,000 moms to calculate Mom's earning power using its Mom Salary Wizard, the first interactive tool allowing moms and their families to price the job of being a Mother. Moms reported which 10 jobs they spend the most time doing -- from CEO to event planner to nutritionist. Using its extensive salary data, Salary.com calculated Mom's earning power based on the national base salary of those jobs.

Moms and their families can visit http://mom.salary.com and create their own "mom paycheck" with the Mom Salary Wizard.  Users can create a hypothetical mom paycheck, which can be printed and emailed to family and friends for Mother's Day.
