A Hospice Supervisor supervises and delivers hospice care programs to patients. Responsibilities include providing guidance and monitoring the performance of the hospice care staff. Being a Hospice Supervisor works with families and patients to develop optimal care plans. Coordinates the patient/family assessment process and care plan development. Additionally, Hospice Supervisor oversees patient care by coordinating instructions from medical doctors with nursing staff and with other departments inside and outside the facility. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to manager or head of a unit/department. The Hospice Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Hospice Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
