Principal duties include:
Sub-editing Australian Geographic, a 132-page magazine devoted to Australia’s nature environment, people and places, 3–4 weeks per issue (every two months).
You’ll be required to:
· correct stories before and after layout, check facts, write some captions, headlines and story introductions.
· manage other sub-editors, proofreaders and fact checkers and their workflow for maximum efficiency
· liaise with writers, sending page proofs and taking in author corrections
· liaise with authorities, sending page proofs for review and taking in corrections.
Sub-editing Australian Geographic website content, primarily written feature articles – both editorial and sponsored.
You’ll also be required to sub-edit other copy, as needed, across newsletters, social media, video, books, and commercial products.
Skills:
· Excellent knowledge of written English, including vocabulary, grammar and sentence construction.
· Comprehensive general knowledge.
· An impeccable eye for detail and the ability to follow a strict style guide.
· An excellent working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
· The ability to verify obscure facts.
· The ability to work without supervision.
· The ability to meet strict deadlines.

6-month contract with the possibility of being offered a permanent role.
4 days per week (at least 2 in the office).
Pay $90,000 super on a pro rata basis.
