We are currently seeking an experienced Specialist Mining Engineer to be based on Curragh Mine located near Blackwater. The successful candidate will hold suitable engineering degree qualifications and be highly capable, possessing not only the required technical skills but also demonstrated ability in applying effective social process skills, including leadership and communication. The successful candidate will have strong drive and energy and thrive on working in a challenging work environment, with genuine opportunities for development and career progression.
This is a residential role or FIFO role working a Monday to Friday roster. Meals and accommodation will be provided.
Key Role Requirements:
- Efficiently deliver the engineering outcomes required for the project as detailed in the project Production Plan;
- Provide engineering advice to your Manager for the purpose of creating and maintaining the Production Plan for the project;
- Prepare reports, schedules and plans in accordance with the site Production Plan requirements such that they are accurate and timely;
- Provide advice to your Manager and other project leaders on the implementation and application of the authorised Production Plan for the project;
- Monitor the effectiveness of the implementation and application of the authorised Production Plan for the project and provide advice to your Manager on possible improvements;
- Work with your Manager to compile monthly progress reports;
- Attend project management meetings to provide technical advice to other project team members;
- Attend meetings with clients as required by your Manager; and
- Provide technical input into SHE investigation reports as required by your Manager.
Key capability requirements:
- Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent;
- Proven experience in open cut coal operations is preferred;
- Experience in the use of mine planning software such as SPRY, Talpac, Surpac, Vulcan, XPAC or similar and advanced spread sheeting skills is desirable;
- Additional Commercial or Project Management experience and/or qualifications are desirable;
- Strong and demonstrated skills in cost and contract management;
- High level communication skills, including written and verbal;
- Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain a ‘Zero Harm’ behaviour and project culture;
- Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; and
- Must have rights to work in Australia.
