Your new role
We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Cadet Engineer to join the Infrastructure Directorate during their final year of tertiary studies. As part of this Cadetship, you will gain a range of experiences across the Directorate, including project management (including survey & design), drainage design and administration, traffic and transport planning, asset management, construction and landscape services and project management. Mentoring and support will be provided by experienced engineers in order for you to gain and enhance your skills as well as engaging in the Council’s personal development programs. Knox City Council’s Infrastructure Directorate is responsible for the proactive development and management of Council’s assets as well as provision of key services including project management, traffic and transport planning, waste management, parks and construction services and stormwater management to ensure that they align with the delivery of the Knox community’s Vision 2025. The Directorate is committed to developing, maintaining and sustaining a vibrant, attractive and safe local environment. Upon successful completion of your Civil Engineering degree you will be offered a 2 year full-time graduate role.
Year 1 is a part-time temporary role based at our Operations Centre however we can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate. This is a Band 3 classified role, remuneration will be $66,045.65 - $70,515.27 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
Years 2 and 3 is a full-time temporary role based at our Operations Centre however we can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate. This is a Band 5 classified role, remuneration will be $78,036.84 - $90,793.94 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What You Will Need To Thrive
In order to be successful, during 2025 you must be in your final year of study towards a Civil Engineering Degree with the ability to commit to a minimum of the equivalent of 6 weeks work spread throughout the year (approximately 1 day per week). Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships is essential. You will be committed to your personal learning journey and keen to develop your skills as a professional engineer.

- Flexible hours available to suit initial study program including the ability to increase hours during semester breaks.
