The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.
Symal is part of the Eastern Freeway - Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.
The role:
As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking a Quality Manager to join the Quality & Completions team in a permanent role.
With the support of your team, you will take responsibility for all Quality aspects of the assigned project section to ensure all works are completed in accordance with required contract conditions, standards/regulations and company procedures.
Your every day:
• Take the lead responsibility for all Quality aspects of the project to ensure all works are completed in accordance with required contract conditions, standards/regulations and company procedures.
• Review all quality specifications to ensure all QA/QC project deliverables required under the contract are captured and processes are in place to ensure they are achieved.
• Develop and revise project-specific quality procedures and forms.
• Assist Engineers with preparing LOR Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) to ensure all inspection and testing requirements have been identified.
• Monitor and report on construction conformance product and documentation
• Engage in the entire procurement process, including package grading, scope of works reviews, review of tender information from a quality perspective.
• Delivering quality related training to subcontractors and suppliers as well as the delivery team.
Who are you?
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related
• More than 3 years’ experience in a Quality Manager role within Construction, Infrastructure, Roads or Major Projects
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards (e.g. AS/NZS 9001:2008), Industry Codes and Procedures
• Experience managing and developing a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with various stakeholders
• Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
• Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency required, as this is a permanent, full-time position
