About The Client

Our client is a leading Australia’s disaster and emergency management efforts by providing informed strategic oversight and guidance and ensuring constant connection with local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and writing speeches and a range of other communication products for senior leaders including the Minister and executives
  • Managing competing priorities to achieve high quality outcomes within tight deadlines
  • Having the ability to develop staff speech writing capabilities, including coaching and mentoring of the current team of ongoing APS staff, further increasing the return on investment.

Skills And Experience

  • Experience in government and executive speechwriting (essential)
  • A relevant degree or diploma with a major in journalism, communications, public relations or marketing. Alternatively, possession of recognised skills, cadetship or relevant experience that the agency considers appropriate to the duties of the position. (essential)

The Following Skills And/or Experience Would Be Highly Regarded

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in speech writing for government and executives
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering capability-building activities
  • Demonstrated experience within a fast-paced professional communications environment
  • High level stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to communicate persuasively and with influence
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and short deadlines
  • Ability to lead and mentor staff

Eligibility/Other Requirements

  • To be eligible for employment in this role, you must be able to provide evidence of Australian citizen, be able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check, and hold, or have the ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 security clearance.
