Job Posting for Finance Officer at Access Better Living Inc.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Finance Officer will lead all day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and year-end audit.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for management, board members, and stakeholders
  • Prepare mandatory report submissions to various funders
  • Manage cash flow, prepare forecasts and budgets
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for items such as accounts receivable, accrued liabilities, revenues, expenses, and others
  • Manage all payroll functions; review and ensure accuracy of earnings, allowances, deductions, and tax calculations
  • Lead the annual audit process alongside external auditors, supplying the necessary documentation and addressing any inquiries
  • Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate the ongoing effectiveness and efficiency of financial accounting and payroll software, financial policies, processes, procedures and workflows, and recommend changes when required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • 5 years of experience working in finance/accounting preferably at the Officer or Director level
  • 3 years of payroll experience
  • Extensive knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft 365, QuickBooks Desktop and other financial systems

  • In-depth understanding of not for profit finances and requirements governing financial activities and financial reporting of not for profit organizations
