What You Will Be Doing
- Acknowledges guests and visitors and greets incoming and outgoing guests by name
- Escorts the guest and identifies the safety and security features of the hotel, while ensuring that each guest
- is treated with the highest level of guest service and professionalism
- Transports luggage to guest room, hangs garment bag and places luggage on luggage stand or in appropriate area as directed by guest
- Explains the features and functions of the room to guest, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly
- Tags and marks luggage for business, leisure, and tour guests. Records and stores luggage and deliveries efficiently and accurately
- Responds quickly to guest complaints or requests for information, reservations and confirmations in an accurate and pleasant manner, and ensures appropriate action is taken
- Assists with the security of the hotel through participation in the Emergency response team in the event of a fire alarm or other crisis
- Ensures that only registered guests and patrons use the Reception Lobby
- Answers internal and external telephone calls with the highest level of professionalism and service
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- A minimum of one (1) year of recent experience (in the last 5 years) as a Porter or Doorperson, or in a position demanding a luxury standard of constant guest/customer service. Individuals pursuing or having completed a post-secondary education in Hospitality require a minimum of four (4) months' of such recent experience.
- A valid BC Class 5 drivers’ license (must provide a drivers’ abstract reflecting a history of responsible driving)
- Comprehensive and current knowledge of local attractions, events, restaurants and transportation information
- Impeccable grooming and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and as a team-player with proven success in relationship building
- Ability to provide excellent service and exceed expectations
- Proven ability to solve problems and make decisions in a personable manner
- Proficient in English language, both verbal and written
- Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an busy, dynamic environment while remaining calm
- Must be available to work flexible hours including overnight shifts
- Must be comfortable wearing a Bluetooth ear piece
- Excellent knowledge of surrounding area is an asset
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
