Meat Cutter

Andersons Butcher and Burger Shack aims to be a 'one-stop shop' with a goal of providing the community with high quality, traceable and sustainable goods sourced from Canadian, family-run, and ethical farms. The focus of Andersons offerings is meat, poultry, pork, and lamb along with house-made sausages, deli and ready meals, pantry goods and custom spices.

As a bustling butcher shop, we are seeking a talented Meat Cutter to prepare meat for consumer use using a wide variety of processes. This includes handling, deboning, trimming, tying, grinding, or tenderizing cuts of meat, as well as creating specialized meat products such as ham or sausage. Other duties include:

• Cut, debone, or grind pieces of meat, including preparing orders to customers’ specifications
• Weigh, label, and price a variety of cuts of meat for on-demand selections by customers in an efficient manner
• Receive deliveries of meat and inspect them to ensure that they adhere to the highest quality standards
• Educate customers on different selections and types of product to match their needs
• Rotate products to reduce the chance of any meat spoiling to reduce waste
• Maintain and clean equipment and preparation counter to maintain health and sanitation standards
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among the staff
• Gain the required knowledge and the proper execution of product and standards held at Andersons
• Other duties as assigned and as may be amended from time to time to meet company objectives

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Knife skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Food Safety Certificate and knowledge of food safety regulations
• Must possess great manual dexterity in order to make proper cuts of meat that are the right size
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labor while standing, walking, and bending for extended periods
• Must have a strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Our logo flips an 'A' upside down, turning it into an oxhead, but it represents more than just an icon for beef. It’s one of the oldest traced symbols of what we now refer to as the letter A, which further connects the brand to the Hon. John Anderson, who over 100 years ago stood where Andersons stands now. Anderson founded the building and operated a dry goods store from these premises from 1898 to 1913, dedicating his life to the community and paving the way for us to be here. Now we’re ready to take the torch and run with it.
