Description:

To provide strategic leadership and direction for IT function at Ascot’s mining site, the IT Lead will oversee the management of IT infrastructure, provide guidance to the IT Technician, and ensure the seamless integration of technology solutions to support operational excellence. The site IT Lead plays a crucial role in driving innovation, optimizing IT systems, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement, ultimately contributing to the site’s overall technological resilience and efficiency. The IT Lead will foster a health and safety culture of Zero Harm while ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.

To be successful we are looking for someone who has strong managerial and interpersonal skills with an ability to train, coach, mentor, motivate and influence others to be accountable and responsible and has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members, other departments, and executives. You have the ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for stakeholders, a high degree of ethics, discretion, and confidentiality, and the ability to work independently, or closely and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Someone who has a strong safety work ethic, responsible, accountable, and dependable and the ability to think strategically and align IT initiatives with the overall business strategy. You have the ability to delegate work, follow instructions to achieve results, and manage projects, the ability to be highly flexible and prioritize, multiple tasks with good time management skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent quality of work, and the ability to perform physical tasks, including sitting for long periods and lifting and moving computer equipment.

Key Job Functions:

  • Provide on-site technical support for end users, ensuring the smooth operations of computer systems, hardware, and software.
  • Contribute to the development of the IT strategy and long-term planning; align IT initiatives with overall business goals and objectives.
  • Design, implement and maintain robust network infrastructure to support site’s IT requirements; ensure network scalability and security.
  • Manage and oversee IT projects related to infrastructure, system upgrades, and technology implementations.
  • Administer site hardware and software applications used by different cost centers.
  • Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies and procedures; keep abreast of industry best practices and emerging threats to continuously enhance security measures.
  • Implement measures to optimize IT systems, improve performance, and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Implement and oversee data backup processes to ensure data integrity and availability. Develop and execute recovery plans in the event of system failures.
  • Stay informed about industry trends to keep IT team’s skill up to date.
  • Identifies hazard identification and promotes safety awareness through day-to-day attitudes and actions.
  • Upholds and follows safety policies, procedures, regulations.
  • Utilizes safeguards, safety appliances and personal protective equipment or devices.
  • Adjusts and establishes daily tasks to meet changing orders of priorities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • In-depth technical knowledge across a range of IT domains, such as networking, system administration, security, and infrastructure.
  • Experience of managing IT projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP system.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated work experience in troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues. Have a proven track of resolving technical challenges efficiently and effectively.
  • Familiarity with common security protocols and proactive in safeguarding IT systems and data.
  • Knowledge of a variety of technologies and the ability to assess and adopt new technologies.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license or equivalent preferred.

A combination of education, skills and experience will be considered.

Salary: $87,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
