Job Summary
As a Payroll & Benefit Specialist, you’ll process payroll using Workforce Now for two payroll groups under a Shared Services model. You’ll administer benefits for your client groups, as well as maintain payroll records, address employee inquiries, and work closely with HR and Finance teams to enhance payroll and benefits procedures.
This is an in-office role and you’ll work in our Vaughan head office as part of the Payroll and HR Team, and report to the Director of Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and submit payroll documentation and data that consist of salary and hourly employees, on biweekly and semi-monthly cycles
- Process special payroll amounts, retroactive pay, adjustments, etc. and update systems with changes
- Prepare third-party payments, i.e. garnishments, etc.
- Prepare and distribute T2200s annually for employment expenses
- Administer employee benefit, pension, TFSA and RSP plans
- Prepare and process workers compensation statements for multiple provinces; reconcile for year end
- T4 balancing and management, year-end summary processing
- Prepare statistical and ad hoc reports for Accounting/Finance and HR such as headcount, department hours reports etc.
- Be the contact for employees for payroll and benefit-related items; research, investigate and resolve issues and respond promptly
- Document payroll procedures and ensure the appropriate internal controls and audits are in place to ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll
- Participate on various projects; support the implementation and training of employees on new processes and systems
- Perform other responsibilities
Education And Experience
- 3 years of payroll and benefit administration experience (Ontario, Manitoba, BC and Quebec),
- University or College diploma
- Certified Payroll Practitioner (PCP)
- Experience with ADP payroll software is required
- Experience with HRIS and time and attendance management systems an asset
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now and SuccessFactors an asset
