Automotive Apprentice - 2nd or 3rd Year

Position Scope

BFI is looking for a 2nd or 3rd Year Automotive Mechanic to join our team at our Mildred Lake Shop in Fort McMurray.

Site: Mildred Lake Shop

Hourly Rate: 2nd Year Rate: $38.36 and 3rd Year Rate: $40.46

Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off

Transportation: Daily transportation from Fort McMurray to the shop is provided

Experience Required: Must have experience with Ford and GM products, working in a shop environment however you may be required to work outside, perform general maintenance and repairs, diagnose and repair electrical and drivability systems

May be required to perform general yard duties as well as operate telehandler and skid steer (we will provide training on the equipment).

Additional Comments:

• Successful candidates will be required to join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955
• Benefits and pension are provided through Local 955

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

• Apprenticeship Certificate
• CSTS-09 or CSTS 2020
• WHMIS 2015
• Wildlife/Bear Awareness
• Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
• Valid class 5 Driver's License
• Drivers abstract - must be a minimum of 3 years and within 30 days
• Other certification may be required based on site requirements

Successful candidates must:

• Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
• Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fit for Work Test
  • Vision Test

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.
