We are currently seeking an Estimator to join our team.
General Description:
Under the general direction of the VP of Sales and Marketing, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing proposals and pricing sheets, performing detailed take-offs from electrical, mechanical, and single-line drawings, as well as from the customer's scope of work. The Estimator will assess the cost of providing clients, or potential clients, with products or services by utilizing comprehensive pricing sheets. This role requires meticulous consideration of all pertinent information about each building project to accurately determine the costs necessary to meet the client's needs.
Reporting:
The role reports directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing; who will be the training mentor and who will monitor and review performance goals and objectives and weekly work schedules.
Responsibilities:
As the Estimator you will:
- Perform detailed take-offs based on client’s electrical and/or mechanical drawings and single line diagrams or other provided documentation;
- Contact clients with any required questions with respect to request for proposals and actively seek out answers to insure you have all required information to accurately price projects;
- When necessary, perform site visits to review scope of work with the client and electrical/mechanical contractor to gather required data;
- Build request for quotes and send to multiple material vendors and third-party subcontractors;
- Review and analyse vendor’s quotes for pricing, quality of product, and availability;
- Select most appropriate vendor or 3’rd party contractor;
- Compile all information on a Pricing Sheet and provide to the Account Executives/Project Managers and Head Office Departments;
- Maintain and seek out new relationships with material vendors to ensure Carma has access to competitive material pricing and ensure a diverse network of vendors is available to secure material delivery;
- Work with Project Managers, Technicians and Head Office Administrative departments should change requests or additional work become available on projects that requires pricing.
Experience/Knowledge/Ability
- Experience in electrical, mechanical systems and/or utilities is required;
- Must be able to read electrical and mechanical drawings and tender documents;
- Excellent leadership and attention to detail;
- Must be able to effectively communicate both with internal departments and external clients;
- Must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize in a timely manner while under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, must be fluent in English;
- Highly skilled in a Windows Office environment, knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, a must.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary School Graduate and/or Electrical Trade or related experience;
- Sub-Metering experience;
- Knowledge of Microsoft office applications;
- Where applicable a Valid G class driver’s, and proof of insurance coverage is required.
Working Conditions:
- In settings such as electrical rooms, construction sites and office buildings;
- Demanding workload and tight deadlines;
- Occasional out of town work and outside of regular office hours will be required as part of your regular duties;
- Appropriate safety wear is required (provided).
