Job Description And Responsibilities
EVRAZ North America is seeking an NDT Coordinator to join our team in at our Red Deer facility. This role is responsible for oversight of daily NDT activities associated with inspections of electric resistance welded (ERW) and submerged arc welded (SAW) tubular products. This role collaborates with employees at a technical level to optimize NDT processes and well as supporting quality systems processes and procedures.
- Support and comply with company quality and safety policies and programs
- Assist NDT Operators with system changeover setups and troubleshooting
- Develop standard operating best practices for NDT systems
- Oversee the manufacture of standardization coupons and can direct and monitor NDT personnel in the process
- Participate in NDT operator training and maintain certification records
- Maintain the NDT records database, including equipment inventory
- Ensure routine maintenance of UT, EMI and other NDT equipment is conducted
- Coordinate repairs of equipment with the maintenance team
- Develop and implement NDT process improvements, leads initiatives on new NDT installations, collaborate with Engineering on project scope development
- Work with vendors on system design, process control philosophy, monitor pre-shipment acceptance testing and monitor installation ensuring technical scope items are in place
- Conduct acceptance testing with employees
- Oversee third party NDT activities when required
Requirements
- Post-secondary education an asset
- CGSB Level II/III NDT certification in UT and/or be eligible for certification to ASNT SNT-TC-1A, additional certification in MT, MFL& LP is preferred
- Strong understanding of relevant NDT techniques utilized during testing of tubular products
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in OCTG and Line Pipe NDT activities
- Working understanding of automated ultrasonic and flux leakage inspection equipment
- Understanding of ISO Quality standards and Quality Management Systems
- Basic understanding of materials and processes associated with pipe manufacturing
- Represent the facility regarding NDT issues during customer audits, field inspections and when mill inspection occasions arise
- Perform periodic audits to ensure conformance with documented NDT work procedures
- Investigate, analyze results and compile reports on NDT downgrades as well as develop improvement opportunities
- Assist with IMTE calibration and maintenance of calibration standards
