Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Public Relations, the Communications Coordinator supports the ongoing work of the Communications and Public Relations department and contributes to the implementation of internal and external communications activities. This position is responsible for promoting a positive public image of the CRNS and effectively communicating with staff, stakeholders and the public.
Core Competencies
· Support the CRNS’s social media presence by work with the Manager, Communications and Public Relations to implement the CRNS’s Social Media Strategy, Public Engagement Strategy and Media Relations Strategy.
· Schedule relevant and engaging content on the appropriate social media channels to actively increase engagement.
· Compose and work with subject matter experts within the CRNS to ensure content for social media platforms, write copy for online audiences and take photos when necessary.
· Monitor social media engagement and compile statistics.
· Proofread, edit and review a variety of communications materials ensuring alignment with the CRNS brand voice to garner the desired reactions from a variety of audiences.
· Compile email newsletters to be sent out to be CRNS membership.
· Assist in the planning and coordination of the CRNS Annual Report
· Create copy for the targeted advertisements for both print and social media platforms.
· Assist in the execution of communications plans and strategies.
· Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of special event programming in collaboration with other CRNS staff.
· Provide administrative support as required by ensuring coverage of duties at reception desk on rotating basis.
· Greet visitors, monitor CRNS email inboxes, as related to Communications portfolio.
· Maintain AED logbook
· Occasionally accept payments by phone or in-person by credit card.
Education/Experience:
· An undergraduate degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing.
· 3 years of experience in Communications, Public Relations or related fields; copywriting, editing, proofreading and publishing; and social media marketing considered as asset.
