Position: Maintenance Facilities Person
The Role at a Glance: As a hotel maintenance team member, you’re a key part of ensuring a safe and comfortable environment by inspecting and repairing various energy systems, such as the heating and cooling systems, plumbing, lighting, and kitchen equipment. You also assist with repairing floors, patching / painting, roofs, and doors and installing new products and light fixtures.
Your Day To Day Duties:
Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
Understand, troubleshoot, repair basic electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
Patching and Painting walls, ceilings, baseboards, moldings.
Mounting or hanging shelving, artwork etc. from walls and ceilings.
Window washing and performing other deep cleaning tasks.
Monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance of all HVAC and refrigeration systems.
Seasonal weather proofing.
Assisting with pest control.
Have excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple department heads and contractors.
Update the maintenance work order form and file them.
Interpret readings from meters & gauges and other measuring units.
Prioritize and organize work assignments or otherwise manage their time efficiently.
Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.
Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
Read and understand test equipment, measuring devices, and safety manuals.
Perform maintenance activities in the guest room like plunging / snaking drains, repairing all types of hardware, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners / HVAC and AC ducts etc.
Perform maintenance activities in hotel public areas like plunging / snaking drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment and cosmetic items.
Program TV's and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment.
Clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel.
Operate as an independent mechanic by analyzing problems, identifying courses of action, and implementing solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and team members and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency.
Monitor fire alarm systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems.
Ensure adherence to fire safety protocols and building codes.
Carry out specific oral and written instructions.
Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Comply with all Archive Hospitality standards, policies and procedures at all times.
Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
You have:
2 or more years’ experience with property maintenance.
Familiarity with Ontario Fire Code, OSHA, Toronto Building Code.
Significant experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical and painting.
Ability to focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.
Experience working in under pressure situations and exercise sound judgement.
