We are looking for a Purchasing Clerk to work within our Supply Chain team at our Head Office in Dartmouth, NS. The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for product purchases to support HGC sales and service to customers. Supporting Centralized Purchasing and the Category Buyer, the Clerk authorizes purchase orders for products, related materials and components in a fast-paced environment.

Principle Responsibilities
- Purchases based on demand to support customer orders and stock requirements through established ERP process/policy from HGC approved vendors
- Reviews purchasing requisitions for accuracy, verifies current inventory levels from associated primary vendor
- Identifies product requirement and coordinates with suppliers to meet tight deadlines and special shipping instructions
- Sources and obtains price quotes from suppliers and prepares purchase order within purchasing authority
- Supports Purchasing Agents & Category Buyers by entering order confirmations, backorder follow up and data analysis
- Purchases the highest quality products/materials at the lowest possible price and in the correct amounts
- Participates in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
- Works with the finance department to processes payments and invoices promptly
Required knowledge and training
- High school graduate plus college diploma or related certificate preferred
- Documentation - proficient in the use of spreadsheet programs
- Identifies and presents information that will motivate, persuade, engage or influence others
- Demonstrates commitment for process improvement
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
