POSITION
ESTIMATOR (Electrical)
Reporting to the Project Director the Electrical Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate estimating and subcontractor costing through the budgeting and estimating stage
This position is based out of Edmonton, AB
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and file estimates in accordance with Company procedures
Identify opportunities and potential pursuits through industry networking
Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
Validate quotations and BOM for accuracy
Conduct detailed reviews of the project documents and analyze project requirements
Itemize general expenses and provide input into margins/fees
Identify risks and opportunities including approaches to create a competitive edge
Work with the client and/or consultants on issues that may require clarification
Attend site visits and walk throughs as required
Review and understand the project construction schedule and any risks or impacts to scope(s)
Share in a detailed estimate review with Senior Management
Lead/Participate in the closing of the estimate and submission of the tender
Prepare budgets, cost savings plans, and value engineering opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Journeyperson Certification, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, or other equivalent construction program
Minimum of 2 years direct experience in the capacity of Estimator including a full range of project delivery methods
Minimum of 2 years experience working in the Commercial Electrical Industry
Ability to read and interpret construction related documents including plans, specifications, and other technical materials
Solid understanding of the CEC and applicable local code
Experience working with estimating software applications/tools such as Accubid
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Bluebeam
The ability to foster new clientele and maintain positive relationships with project team, subtrades, consultants and client
Familiarity with Edmonton and area Bid Boards such as Building Connected, Buildworks/COOLNet Alberta, Alberta Purchasing Connection
Proficiency with reading electrical, mechanical, controls, and civil drawings
Experience with estimating project sizes of $ 500,000 to $ 5,000,000
