The Foremen is responsible for the day-to-day site management of landscaping projects. Under the direction of the Superintendent and Project Manager, the Foreman ensures productivity and efficiency on job sites.
They assign duties and are responsible for monitoring the progress of a project and working closely with the estimator/project manager to keep it on track from a time and budgetary standpoint. The Foreman must ensure workers are qualified and knowledgeable about their roles and make assignments according to skill sets.
Regular communication and progress updates are shared with the estimator/project manager to support decisions related to supplier and vendor relationships. A foreman also ensures safe working conditions and compliance with all safe operating procedures specific to the industry.
Accountability: Reports to our Dispatcher, works closely with the General Superintendent and various Project Managers.
Paid travel time, profit share bonus.
Responsibilities and duties
This position is responsible for:
Leading and working alongside an onsite team of landscape laborer's to complete a project
Appropriately equipping and organizing the tool trailer.
Ensuring the company truck is maintained and in good running condition.
Meeting estimator for site walkthrough on the first day of the project:
- Receiving job files, ask appropriate questions for clarity before job start.
- Managing and informing on materials, both receiving and returns, on job sites.
- Discussing all aspects of the contract to avoid misunderstandings and possible problems.
- Ensuring the layout is done adequately.
Communicating with Dispatch daily by 3:00 pm regarding Crew, equipment, materials, and special tools, as well as crew injuries, crew disputes, or termination suggestions.
Ensuring the product is installed to specification, and that project quality is maintained
Maintaining an attitude of respect amongst crew members at all times.
Ensuring a safe site. Discussing hazards with crew and project manager.
Ensuring the productivity of jobs and crew.
Ensuring care is taken of our client’s property.
Ensuring crew members adhere to Living Stones ’Employee Conduct Agreement’.
Discussing ‘extra’s’ on jobs with project estimator before proceeding.
Do not discuss pricing, extra costs, the time allotted for projects, or extras with clients.
Reporting broken tools with a ‘Repair Request form.’
Accurately complete LMN Time sheets daily
Complete T & M sheets daily as needed
Scan receipts and job related documents daily into LMN
Photograph document progress of the job daily
Qualifications/skills
EDUCATION:
Horticultural an asses
Red Seal Carpentry an asset
Training in Project Management an asset
EXPERIENCE:
Three years on the job experiences with landscaping construction
Experience in horticulture an asset
Ability to text and use a mobile device for scheduling and responding to emails
Experience with reading plans
Experience leading others
Equipment operations (Bobcat & excavator)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Sound knowledge and understanding of the landscaping industry
Sound knowledge of project management
Sound knowledge of customer service is essential
Solid communication skills
Team-building abilities
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills
Class 1, 3, 5, R2O Driver’s License

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
