VDC / BIM Team Lead - Mississauga
The position of VDC / BIM Team Lead is to provide support to the VDC Coordinators and the Buildings Project Management Teams for the successful planning, estimation, and execution of construction projects. The intent of this role is to initiate and implement the VDC program within the company and oversee a group of VDC Coordinators. The VDC Team Lead is also responsible for supporting the VDC team in the creation and development of new processes and advancements in technology within Maple Reinders. In addition to responsibilities related to team management, the VDC Team Lead will be required to perform VDC work for project teams, including but not limited to 3D coordination, clash detection, and the creation of 4D schedules. In this way, the VDC Team Lead will lead the team in completing project deliverables, while collaborating on those deliverables with team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General & Team Management

Coordinate BIM/VDC services for the Buildings Divisions’ projects.

Manage, mentor, support and define clear expectations for the development of VDC Coordinators.

Actively foster a learning environment, share your knowledge, and ensure continuous improvement through feedback and training.

Organize, clarify, and assign specific tasks and projects to team members.

Be accountable for the quality and timely submission of deliverables of the VDC Team.

Ensure alignment with operational teams and goals, identifying project needs that will be supported by the VDC team services.

Communicate all the VDC services and tools available to Project Teams.

Encourage your team to think outside the box to find innovative solutions and opportunities.

Set up and lead weekly VDC meetings with relevant team members.

In-depth understanding of BIM/VDC processes/workflows and methodologies.

Understanding of the evolution of VDC technologies and their potential use within Maple Reinders.

Manage and create VDC processes, plans, standards, and aspirations as required for projects.
VDC Work
-
Active participation in all phases of projects, from pre-construction to delivery.

Manipulate, and maintain 3D models during preconstruction and construction phases.

Analyze models provided by Consultants and Subcontractors for evaluation, planning and production.

Run clash detection, document clashes, and track through clash reports and coordinate in a timely manner.

Prepare and participate in meetings with Project Teams, Architects, Consultants, and Subcontractors.

Continuously develop VDC/BIM capabilities within Maple Reinders.

Educate and coordinate with the Project Teams to raise overall understanding of VDC/BIM.

Assist Project Teams with 3D models, clash detections, 4D scheduling, logistical planning and other related tasks and requirements.

Create BIM Execution Plans and ensure they are followed and kept current during the project.

Work with the Field Tech team to integrate survey principles and scan-to-BIM technology.
- Ability to automate routine VDC work to enhance productivity.

Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops to further advance Maple Reinders in BIM.
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have graduated from a recognized architectural, engineering or construction management program (minimum 2-year program).
- Five or more years of BIM/VDC-related experience.

Demonstrated experience in a project support role, preferably with an ICI General Contractor.

Ability to interpret construction drawings, read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans

A thorough understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam.

Knowledge of Autodesk 2D and 3D modelling, including but not limited to AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)

Experience with PowerBI or similar

Knowledge of GIS Tools

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 / Year (Depending on Experience)
