Northern Health is seeking a psychiatrist to join the mental health team in Terrace, BC who will work in Mills Memorial Hospital and the Northern Health Mental Health Program. No overhead!
Working in a community mental health team and in close consultation with family physicians, the psychiatrist will be responsible for
- patient assessments and treatment planning
- ongoing patient centered consultation
- education to physicians and interdisciplinary mental health teams to advance effective treatment
- participating in provision of area-based continuum of psychiatric services including assessment of patients in the regional hospital observation unit.
The new recruit will join 3 other Psychiatrists in Terrace who work as part of an Intensive Care Management Team with nursing and allied health professionals. Terrace is a vibrant community with a medical catchment area of 31,000; arts scene, incredible skiing and hiking, world class fishing, Rediscover work-life balance with a family friendly life style and affordable housing.
Mills Memorial Hospital, located in Terrace, is a fully accredited, 44 bed, acute care facility. Patient visits to the busy ER in Terrace are varied and reflects the population and activities in the area. The regional psychiatry unit serves the population of the Northwest with 10 beds and 2 seclusion rooms. The new Mills Memorial Hospital is under construction, slated to open 2024.

- 2 Hospital based withdrawal management beds
- Regional dialysis unit
- Largest cancer clinic in Northwest British Columbia, including a regional breast cancer diagnostics program
- Regional 5 bed ICU
- Medical Imaging Unit includes regional Nuclear Medicine
- CT
- Echocardiography
- MRI
- Digital mammography
- Stereotactic breast biopsy
- Regional pathologist services
Other facilities include, Seven Sisters Rehabilitation and Recovery, Birchwood Place, Long Term Care, Community Health and Home Care Nursing.
