Position Summary:
Position is responsible for assisting the Employment and Training Officer in developing and delivering job search services, completing client assessments; and for the provision of labour force development program.
Reporting:
This position will report to the Employment and Training Officer.
Summary of Main Responsibilities:
· Providing assistance to the Employment and Training Officer in identifying/Developing career path with clients
· Interviewing and counselling clients to gain background, history, interests and skills to determine aptitudes and abilities in order to determine needs.
· Organizing and conducting job search and job finding courses,
· Linking clients with employment opportunities
· Making recommendations for assistance with various funding sources
· Ensuring current client files are up-to-date
· Ensuring historical files are archived.
· Processing purchase orders, expense claims and other financial documents
· Drafting annual reports
· Assist in monitoring fiscal budget through monthly statements.
· Submitting budget changes to the Employment and Training Officer
· To contribute to the development of services for clients, including attendance at meetings and training as required.
Requirements:
· Post-secondary Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent;
· Minimum 1 year experience as receptionist/administrative assistant
· A combination of Education, Experience and Training may be considered
· Experience in a First Nations setting preferred
· Must provide a clear CPIC (documentation will be required if successful applicant)
· First Aid and CPR an asset (and must be willing to take the training if hired)
· Valid Driver’s License and vehicle
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Experience with computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office, email and internet
· Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Well developed interpersonal, public relations and relationship building skills
· Excellent organizational, time and file management skills
· Knowledge of and ability to interact with external partners
