Job Posting for NDE Technician - Grande Prairie at RAE Engineering
The NDE Technician performs calibrations, non-destructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and records results. The NDE Technician will set up and calibrate equipment, as well as interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications. The NDE Technician is also responsible for organizing and reporting results of the non-destructive testing.
Responsibilities:
Conducts tests to ensure quality or detect defects using ultrasonic, magnetic particle or liquid penetrant non-destructive testing methods
Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment
Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards
Evaluate results
Organize and report test results
Perform specialized inspections
Interface daily with client about work priorities and progress of projects
Actively participate in client programs
Work closely with client to identify and remove obstacles
Actively participate in client safety initiatives
Assist trainee technicians learning NDE as to proper techniques and acceptance criteria
Conduct Magnetic Flux Exclusion/wall crawler scanning
Assist with settlement surveys, as required
Qualifications:
CGSB UT Level 1
MT Level 2 would be an asset
1-3 years of active and proven field inspection experience
Knowledge:
Demonstrated ability to perform inspections, including setting up corrosion surveys, and interpreting results of found indications for all certified methods
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
Ability to produce intricate and accurate isometric drawings of vessels, tanks and piping
Ability to produce reports to communicate status of assigned projects in a timely manner
Excellent planning and organizations skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities
Strong leadership abilities to assist with training new technicians
Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills
Strong working knowledge of MS office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Ability to make sound decisions and take responsibility for actions and recommendations

Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
Well-developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
