Pipefitters Foreperson

Location: Sault Ste Marie, Ontario / FIFO

Compensation: $45 to $50 per hour

Contract Dates: September 9th to 20th

Travel Allowance and Accommodations provided

Raise Workforce has partnered with the leader in Material Handling equipment for an upcoming shutdown at a Steel Plant. This role primarily involves overseeing the maintenance of a assigned sections of a conveyor system and supervising a team. Based on job performance and leadership, there is an opportunity to be regularly called back for future shutdowns across Ontario and Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

• Lead and manage a team of skilled trades workers during the maintenance shutdown.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and within the specified timeframes.
• Promote a respectful, professional, and inclusive work environment.

Work Planning and Coordination:

• Plan and coordinate daily work activities and resources to meet project objectives.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of assigned sections
• Provide technical guidance and resolve any on-site issues.

Safety and Compliance:

• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
• Conduct safety briefings and ensure the team is equipped with proper PPE.
• Monitor work areas for potential safety hazards and take corrective actions as needed.

Communication and Reporting:

• Maintain clear and effective communication with the project manager and other stakeholders.
• Document daily progress, work completed, and any incidents or issues.
• Provide feedback and performance evaluations for team members.

Compensation:

• Overtime: Paid after 8hrs daily, Double Time after 12hrs daily
• Meals LOA provided and mileage compensated for travel over 110 km
• Flights expensed up to $1225 return, meals LOA, and accommodations for travel over 650 km

Qualifications:

Certification:

• Certification of Qualification or Red Seal preferred
• WHMIS 2015, Workers Awareness in 5 Steps.
• Additional certifications such as Working At Heights, Elevated Work Platform, Confined Space Entry, or First Aid & CPR are considered assets.

Experience:

• Proven experience in a supervisory or foreperson role in an industrial setting.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.

Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build and lead a team, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Strong commitment to personal and team safety.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and meet respirator fit test requirements (clean shaven).
• Full G Driver's License.

Pre-employment:

• Willingness to participate in pre-employment background checks which may include a Criminal Record Check and Drug & Alcohol screening.

Scope of Work:

• Oversee repairs or replacements of gearboxes, pulleys, sheaves, motors, impact beds, shaker decks, bearing replacements, hydraulic pumps, and wear liners including ball mills and rod mills.
