We are looking for a Network Specialist to join our passionate and dedicated Integrated Software (IS) team. This position is integral to client solutions and services such as digitizing manual processes, creating custom reporting tools, machine control, IoT concepts, and much more! This position has lots of growth potential and paid training will be provided for systems specific to RidgeTech Automation.
Job Overview
The Network Specialist will be responsible for designing, troubleshooting and maintaining networks in an industrial environment. This will require a strong understanding of networking principles, network security, and experience supporting industrial control applications.
Job Summary
- Design and implement industrial network architectures that support critical applications.
- Configure and optimize network devices including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Ensure reliable connectivity and performance of network applications (i.e. SCADA, MES, and HMI system).
- Conduct site surveys and network assessments to identify and address potential issues.
- Collaborate with application teams to integrate network solutions with production systems.
- Develop code and scripting in multiple languages including Shell / Powershell, JSON, Python, T-SQL, HTML, JAVA & .NET, and apply to industrial automation systems (i.e. Ignition and/or FactoryTalk SE).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network and application documentation.
- Provide technical expertise and support during network and application performance issues.
- Conduct training sessions on best practices for network and application operations.
- Execute preliminary visual samples and flow diagrams for quoting and concept purposes.
- Manage client relationship and project scope/lifecycle.
- Commissioning and debugging client systems (remotely or at client's site).
- Uphold safe work practices as per RidgeTech Automation’s Health & Safety Program.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Post Secondary Education in Computer Science, Controls, Automation or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in networking or industrial environments.
- Hold and maintain a valid Class G license and have dependable transportation to get to the office and local client sites.
- Strong understanding of OSI model, TCP/IP, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and other industrial networking equipment.
- Proficiency in network design and implementation, including VLANs and VPNs.
- Knowledge of network security principles and practices.
- Experience with Networking and Server architectures – Topologies, hardware/software specifications, deployment, and maintenance
- Knowledge in Object Oriented Programming and Object Relational Mapping

Optional Qualifications (Assets to this Role)
- Previous experience as Database or Network System Administrator
- Knowledge of Industrial Controls, Industrial Networking, and DDE/OPC
- Experience with PLC/HMI/Robot/SCADA programming software considered an asset
- Experience in Manufacturing/Production environments and electromechanical systems, and/or Version Control Systems
