Role Purpose:

To maximize the weekly, monthly, and annual performance of the site by providing leadership while focusing on customer requirements, operational performance, positive workforce motivation, individual development and succession planning.

Key Accountabilities / Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Customer

  • Ensure customer/vendor contract requirements are administered and enforced.
  • Maximize the performance of the site inventory management system to ensure:
  • Care, custody, and control of customer inventory
  • Productivity and space utilization (efficient product placement, etc.)
  • Accuracy (to floor and customer book)
  • Proper utilization of information technology

Team member

  • Ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for team members.
  • Implement team member performance reviews, individual development plans and succession plans.
  • Ensure site operates to the routines outlined in the site interaction matrix and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced (i.e., accounting, operational, regulatory, and administrative).
  • Take an active leadership role in managing turnover to the appropriate level (among hourly and management staff).
  • Ensure team members and supervisory staff have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely accounted for and adequately maintained.

Processes

  • Oversee execution of workshop action plans, projects and best practice sharing / implementation.
  • Develop/achieve budget(s), revenue, profit (P&L) for site, and review agreed upon budget with client.
  • Follow established Customer Billing SOP, as well as ensure team members at facility are properly trained in creation/submission of invoices to customer.
  • Develop/achieve the annual site operating plan and goals; review plans and goals with client.
  • Monitor service levels and customer satisfaction to ensure performance meets customer/vendor, and Exel (balanced scorecard) contractual requirements. Report on performance measures.
  • Lead and provide direction to site workload planning and volume forecasting (i.e., staffing, equipment, space).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

People Management Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Selection: determine labor needs; understand and use the Company’s interviewing process and tools; implement on boarding (Passport orientation, etc.).
  • Managing & Rewarding Performance: set clear performance expectations (Passport, Performance Management Process); provide regular feedback and reviews; resolve team conflicts; encourage a positive and safe environment; use coaching and corrective action for underperformance; understand and use voluntary/involuntary termination processes.
  • Training & Development: understand and coach others on processes, tools and standards (SOP’s); ensure training requirements are met; identify and address skill gaps; discuss career interests.
  • Communication & Engagement: communicate site, company, and other pertinent information to team (pre shift, one on one, etc.); share customer and Exel information on regular basis.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ logistics industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervisory/management role
  • Additional relevant preferred skills: Operations background, P/L management, Objective setting, Preventative maintenance routines, Facility management (i.e., maintenance, sanitation, etc.), Project management, Contract administration, Staff management, Metric development, Communication skills, People skills
