ABOUT THE ROLE:

Skills Ontario is seeking a Program Facilitator to help to deliver all of Skills Ontario’s programs including Presentations, Summer Camps, Trades and Tech Truck Program, Conferences and other events, as well help with Competitions when needed. While this position is hybrid, the candidate must reside in Thunder Bay or the surrounding area.

FULL-TIME, PERMANENT POSITION (35 Hours a Week)
SALARY: $44,625

The successful candidate will inform and inspire students about the first-choice career opportunities that exist in the skilled trades and technologies through the following activities:

  • Schedule and facilitate multiple presentations a week to promote awareness of career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies
  • Establish and maintain relationships with school boards, communities, and other stakeholders
  • Organize events to bring together local skilled trades professionals and youth, including managing student recruitment, organizing logistics, etc.
  • Assist with the Trades and Tech Truck when required
  • Deliver up to 6 weeks of summer camps during July and August locally and/or provincially
  • Facilitate other events and programs as required (i.e. Young Women’s Events)
  • Other duties as assigned

The incumbent will be responsible for delivering programming to their local school boards (Public and Catholic) and surrounding communities; travel may be required across the province to help deliver Skills Ontario’s programs. When not facilitating, the successful candidate will be working from home to complete all administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Secondary School Graduate
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
  • Fluency in French is not required but is an asset (written and oral)
  • Experience in delivering workshops, programs, or presentations to youth
  • Prior knowledge of and/or experience with skilled trade and technology occupations is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to make outbound calls and visits
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating events
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Willingness to travel as required (mileage reimbursement by Skills Ontario)
  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle is required
  • Preference will be given to candidates that identify as First Nation, Métis or Inuit. Self-Identification is encouraged
