The Role
We are currently hiring for the position of Financial Analyst to join our small and very efficient Finance team, operating out of our HQ in North York, ON.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst will provide technical financial advice and support to various departments including, but not limited to, detailed review and analysis of operating budget, as well as responsibility for financial activities of the assigned portfolio including: journal entries, account reconciliation, financial controls and quality assurance activities, collection and input of financial information, preparation of financial reports, supporting the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and business planning, performing financial analysis and forecasting. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing of monthly and quarterly financial variance and forecast reports with decision makers of assigned portfolio.
The role requires an individual ready to take on more ownership and progress to the next level in their career. The opportunity will allow the successful individual to be involved in all financial aspects of a rapidly growing multi-dimensional retail business.
Duties and Responsibilities
Departmental Duties
- Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares monthly Management Reports and analysis to explain variances vs budget.
- Conduct various financial analysis related to the ongoing operations of the organization
- Develop relationships with internal and external customers and work to exceed customer expectations for reporting and analysis
- Assist with the annual budget initiatives including conducting meetings with operational teams to explain results and cost reduction analysis as necessary
- Develop effective reporting tools for the department including key performance indicators to measure departmental efficiency
- Assist in ad hoc analysis and special projects as required by Management and cross-functional teams
- Any other related duties as assigned
Other Duties
- Participate in special ad-hoc duties and projects.
- Take part and assist in process improvement initiatives to capture efficiencies in processes.

Education, Experience and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Enrolment in CPA preferred
- 2 years accounting/finance experience
- Experience in the retail industry preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Highly detail oriented and organized in work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service focus
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Understand business goals and work closely with key leadership to strategize
- Sound analytical ability coupled with creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate independently with minimal direction
Physical Requirements and work environment:
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Working extra hours as necessary.
