About the Role
Reporting to the HR and LR Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for both HR Generalist and Labour Relations functions within the scope of employee relations, disability management, investigations, union grievances, ADP administration, general day-to-day employee assistance, and a variety of projects.
This position is full time out of our site at GM Oshawa and offers a hybrid work model, four days in office and one work-from-home day offered, with occasional travel to our headquarters in Markham, ON.

Pay
Responsibilities
- Administer the language of the collective bargaining agreement, ensuring compliance with all articles and regulations;
- Developing and implementing new employee policies and standards, ensuring that compliance with HR best practices;
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to: compensation, benefits, and leaves of absence;
- Assist with employee relations issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, disciplinary action, and terminations;
- Draft correspondence, documents, and reports related to employee and labour relations matters;
- Disability management and return-to-work programs for all non- occupational injuries or illnesses;
- Lead and facilitate workplace investigations that have varying levels of difficulty and sensitivity, related to themes of code of conduct, performance management and harassment/workplace violence;
- Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices;
- Collaborate with site management and union representatives to maintain a harmonious workplace environment;
- Facilitate the grievance process including research, interpretation of alleged violation(s), developing responses and organizing documentation for issues that need to be progressed;
- Manage and deliver training and development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge and promote career growth;
- Enter and maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information, including new hires, salary changes, benefit changes, and other relevant employment updates, into the HRIS systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of progressive Human Resources experience as a Generalist;
- Minimum 6 months of experience working within a Unionized environment;
- Minimum 6 months of experience in ADP Workforce Now;
- Exposure to working with management client groups will be considered an asset;
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources is required;
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality;
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and conflict resolution skills;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Willingness to commute to the Markham, ON headquarters on occasion.
Schedule
- 8am - 4:30pm Mon-Fri with flex time.
