Water and Waste Water Treatment Operator Level 1

ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for field operation of water and wastewater treatment equipment for Terra Water Systems Inc. The Operator will be deployed to a remote work site to maintain, inspect and operate Terra supplied equipment, while staying in close contact with the client and the operations staff. The position would require a 2 weeks in camp and 2 weeks off schedule.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with on-site Terra contracted labor to assist in equipment install or removal;
• Trouble shoot and carry out equipment maintenance requirements, on a periodic basis;
• Work with Terra operations staff on site and identify/contribute to Terra’s Continuous Improvement initiatives;
• Improve skill set and knowledge by taking industry and Terra sponsored training programs;
• Focus on safety practices and policies while undertaking day to day tasks associated with the job or work site tasks;
• Building ancillary equipment as needed (pipe, hoses, lift stations, cords); and,
• Various other duties as required.
• Experience in MBR waste water treatment systems is considered an Asset
• Repair PVC, ABS and metal plumbing
• Handling water and waste water treatment chemicals
• Interpret lab results to identify inefficiencies in the operation and correct as necessary
• Inspecting ancillary equipment (lift stations, hoses, heat trace etc.) at least once every 12 hours

Scope and magnitude of financial, budgetary, cost, employee responsibility and decision-making.

· Issue PO’s to field contractors as required for on-site services. PO’s to be approved by Terra office.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Years of experience combined with education, designations or certifications.

· 1-2 years in the remote work camp equipment operations or maintenance;

· Approved Level 1 Waste Water treatment operator certification and Level 1 or higher Water Treatment Operator Certification (Alberta or BC)

The nature and extent of skills and competencies required to achieve the goals of the position.

· Must be reliable and punctual;

· Good communications skills, both written and verbal;

· Organized and the ability to multi-task;

· Ability to meet job requirements with little daily supervision;

· Ability to organize and maintain accurate equipment files;

· Interest in keeping current with government regulations and industry requirements;

· Excellent attitude toward workplace safety;

· Computer knowledge & skills in Word, Excel, Outlook; and,

· Valid driver’s license and a current abstract.

· Good Mechanical Aptitude
