Project Manager
Position Summary
Thales is looking to hire a Project Manager (PM) who will carry out an integral role, responsible and accountable for the delivery of the assigned project, its business rhythm and all associated governance aspects in order to ensure successful project execution. The role will demand an individual with highly developed communication and influencing skills and an equal depth of domain experience that can ensure Thales delivers the project to the schedule, cost and quality requirements and to the satisfaction of the customer. The ability to lead and motivate an integrated project team will be key to the success of the PM and the execution of the project.
The Project Manager will produce detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and regular status reports for the customer and Thales internal management for complex projects, which may include Firm Fixed Price and/or Service based contracts. The PM will engage with various stakeholders within the Thales matrix organization and within the customer community on the project. The PM will be accountable for driving Execution Excellence on their project and supporting Project Management Office (PMO) initiatives within Thales Canada Defence & Security.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Plan, organize, lead and control the area and staff assigned to achieve outcomes within the delegated authorities and responsibilities for the Project assigned.

Establish and control the project business rhythm and governance for the overall Project;

Ensure that Thales project management methodology and a suitable program management framework are used throughout the entire project lifecycle to meet financial objectives and customer commitments;

Develop a robust, optimized project schedule; Manage and track the cost, schedule and technical performance of all aspects of the Project assigned against the approved baseline; Be accountable for monitoring/control of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedule, risk register, scope change, on time delivery and EAC within the project;

Oversee achievement of project performance objectives and indicators;

Identify support and resources needed to achieve the project objectives with input of the Resource Managers and key stakeholders; Manage all customer / stakeholder relationships to ensure other responsibilities/accountabilities are achieved; Lead and motivate a high performing cross-disciplinary integrated team by providing the appropriate direction, coaching, support and delegation to team members;

Ensure a robust risk and opportunity management process is embedded in the project, supporting the work package leaders as required; Promote Execution Excellence by identifying areas of improvement and supporting PMO initiatives; Prepare Project and Estimate to Complete (ETC) Reviews;
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Business or relevant proven experience.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing complex projects in a matrix organization; Experience and understanding of the Program Management process (including Change Control, Risk Management and Information Management);

Strong commercial / contractual acumen;

Certified Practicing Project Manager or equivalent (IPMA and/or PMP certification)

Experience across the Design, Delivery and In-Service Support phases of a project lifecycle.
