Our Team
Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey’s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.
As part of the North Atlantic Financial Performance and Analysis team you would be specifically supporting the Newfoundland and Labrador operations in their cost processes.
The Opportunity
Vale recognizes the Impacts and Benefits Agreements with the Innu Nation and the Nunatsiavut Government in which Innu and Inuit workers have first preference for employment at the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site. This is guided by an adjacency principle that first gives preference to those who live on the coast of Labrador, followed by those residing in the rest of Labrador, those residing on the island of the province, followed by the rest of Canada.
Next, priority will be given to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. We also welcome those who are willing to relocate back home and those looking to make NL their permanent home.
We are currently seeking a Contracts Assistant to join our FP&A team supporting our Voisey’s Bay operations. This permanent position will be on a Monday to Friday schedule working primarily from the St. John’s office.
The Contracts Assistant (CA) will provide support to the Voisey’s Bay Mine SIte following the corporate guidelines, procedures, Vale values and policies. Reporting to the VNL Finance Manager the CA will be responsible for managing the invoicing and accrual process and provide support to contract owners within the operations. The CA will strive to work safely at all times and immediately highlight unsafe work conditions to your team. In this position, you will:
Manage and control the invoice process from invoice receipt to entry of final Service Entry Sheet. Including maintaining an invoice log, tracking of invoice processing KPI's, coordination with contract coordinators throughout the invoice review process, communication with vendors etc.
Manage and control the accrual process including managing the accrual tracker and coordination with managers and superintendents to ensure costs are accrued accurately and timely.
Work with both the Business Analysts and the Contracts team to provide input into the forecasting process.
Perform other general related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
About You
Education:
A diploma in business or contract/procurement administration is required.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant role is required.
Previous experience in a project environment on heavy industrial or mining projects is preferred.
Skills:
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and in particular Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changes and tight deadlines.
Knowledge working with SAP.
Very good written and oral communication skills.
attention to detail to ensure accuracy of reports.
