Job Title: Intermediate Estimator
Location: North Vancouver Office
Key Responsibilities: • Tendering Process: Assist in all aspects, from start to finish.
- Design Drawings & Specifications: Read, understand, and become familiar with project requirements.
- Detailed Estimates: Prepare firm, budget, and unit price estimates for labor, materials, equipment, permits, etc.
- Liaison: Communicate with client representatives, government officials, design engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Clarifications: Work with design engineers to clarify unclear items.
- Requests for Quotations: Issue and communicate with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Quotation Analysis: Compare and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Project Schedules: Create preliminary schedules.
- Field Collaboration: Determine equipment productivity and construction methodologies.
- Estimating Software: Utilize HeavyBid to generate estimates.
- Health, Safety & Environment: Incorporate these principles into each estimate.
- Estimate Reviews: Participate with senior management.
- Tender Submissions: Develop and respond to post-tender inquiries.
- Project Handover Meetings: Advise field staff on construction procedures and methods used in estimates.
- Training: Assist in the development of junior estimators.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Lead Estimator.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Education: University degree in Engineering or a diploma in Civil Technology.
- Registration: Eligible to register as an AScT or EIT/P.Eng. in British Columbia.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in estimating heavy civil construction projects; marine construction experience is a plus.
- Knowledge: Good understanding of estimating and construction methods.
- Field Experience: Experience as a Project Engineer/Project Manager is an asset.
- Skills: Ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, MS Office (Word, Excel, and Project).
- Communication: Strong English skills, both verbal and written.
