The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist will be responsible for the oversight and continuous development of the Health, Safety and Environmental program. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of programs, administrative excellence for compliance and leadership of HSE to ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally safe and compliant operation. The HSE Specialist will work closely with management to promote HSE and a strong safety culture in all the operations. This position is a part-time role for one to two days per week.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • 5 or more years experience in a similar role
  • Safety Management Certificate or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office suite

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight of all the elements of the safety program
  • Creation and revisions of safe work procedures and practices
  • Accident/Incident/Near Miss investigations with root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Hazard Assessment and Analysis (in conjunction with Supervisors)
  • Work with operations to identify key hazardous activities and develop/amend safe job procedures for tasks
  • Identify additional risks in the operation through walkthroughs and informal audits (safety, documentation, etc)
  • Training: Employee Orientations, WHMIS, Hazard Assessment and specific SWP and SJPs
  • Support and mentorship for supervisors and coordinator in their contributions and inputs to the safety program.
  • Oversight of contractor management and compliance
  • COR certification and ongoing maintenance
  • Industrial testing coordination and implementation of potential corrective actions
  • Toolbox Meetings when applicable
  • Observations and Walk Through Reports.
  • Any other job related and support activity duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
