About the Role
As a Cloud GCP SRE in our Tech CDIS – Cloud, Data and Analytics, you’ll play a key role to ensure the reliability and scalability of a self-serving data mesh platform in a GCP environment. This position is integral to ANZ's Actionable Data initiative, focusing on automating system monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement within the central data mesh platform ecosystem. The SRE will collaborate with development teams to enhance system resilience and service availability.

What will your day look like?
Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and availability of cloud infrastructure and applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
Perform root cause analysis of incidents and apply corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Design, develop, and manage infrastructure using Terraform or similar IaC tools to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
Ensure infrastructure changes are version-controlled, auditable, and follow best practices.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline operational tasks, such as deployment, scaling, and backups.
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable application delivery.
Lead incident response efforts, including coordinating with cross-functional teams, communicating with stakeholders, and documenting incident postmortems.
Develop and maintain runbooks and playbooks to streamline incident response processes.
Identify areas for improvement in system reliability, performance, and processes, and implement solutions to address these areas.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
1 year of experience with building modern applications utilizing GCP services like Cloud Build, Cloud Functions/ Cloud Run, GKE, Logging, & IAM or equivalent experience in AWS or any other cloud platform.
Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architecture.
Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform or similar tools.
Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
Deep understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud best practices.
Experience with managed database services on GCP, like Cloud SQL, Bigtable, or Firestore
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
