Job Description: Position Summary: Under the supervision of a registered polysomnographer (RPSGT) as required by the state of California, the Trainee will provide sleep services. These services include and are not limited to gathering and verifying patient information, testing preparation and monitoring, documenting routine observations, data acquisition and scoring ad assisting with appropriate interventions for patient safety in California. It is expected that the trainee will grow into the role of an RPSGT within 46 weeks of hire and sit for the registry exam. Experience: Basic Computer Skills; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. After 11 weeks in the role, it is expected that the trainee will sit for the certified sleep technologist exam; The trainee must sit for the credentialing exam and become a certified sleep tech within 1 month of completing required hours to sit for exam. After 46 weeks in the role, it is expected that the trainee will sit for the registered sleep technologist exam; The trainee must sit for the registry exam and become a registered sleep tech within 1 month of completing required hours to sit for exam. Education: Enrollment in an approved Polysomnography training program is required; Completion of an education program in Polysomnography or graduate of a school for Respiratory Therapy is preferred; High School Graduate preferred. Licensure/Certification: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required; registration with the medical board of California is required; RPSGT or RRT preferred.
