Summary Under the guidance of the Lead Clinical Laboratory Aide, Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Supervisor and/or Director performs phlebotomy and limited pre-analytic processing of specimens received in the laboratory. Responsible for appropriately activating provider’s electronic orders and/or transcribing provider orders into the electronic medical record (EMR). Interacts professionally with patients, clients, and co-workers throughout the organization. Certification, Registration, and Licensure None required. Experience Training in phlebotomy procedures with an externship preferred. Responsibilities Obtains and processes venous and capillary blood samples required for laboratory analysis from patients of all ages upon request. Provides customer service to patients and stakeholders of the laboratory department. Assists in training of phlebotomy students, nursing or laboratory personnel, as directed, in regards to obtaining, handling and transport of specimens, and other areas related to phlebotomy. Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements. Identifies problems related to work activities, including involvement in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement efforts within the department. Demonstrates proficiency in utilization of the hospital/laboratory information and technology systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Concord Hospital is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
