Essential Functions: The Reimbursement Analyst is responsible for compiling information needed for claims submissions. Reviews claims and assists with the annual cost report preparation and other reporting requirements. Ensures compliance with contractual or reimbursement-related agreements, maximizing organizational reimbursement, and, understanding variations in net revenue. Provides reimbursement patterns and trend analyses for various departments. Provides assistance to team members as required. Processes accounts receivable reports and checks for potential issues. Settles accounts receivable requests and billing issues. Prepares financial/reimbursement reconciliation. Develops techniques for effective analysis of billing and collections efforts. Responsible for working with medical schools regarding required GME time studies and providing analysis to required team or employees. Collects, analyzes, and reviews the time study data and provides financial reconciliation. Maintains physician time studies to ensures that the hospitals’ direct/indirect medical education reimbursement is maximized. Assists physicians in determining appropriate use of codes for maximizing reimbursement of services. Assists the leaders and team members with annual cost report preparation. Assists as needed with DSH/additional reporting and analysis requirements. Along with the leaders and team members, ensures filing of all the cost reports, GME/other reimbursement applications, DSH/other reports and any other regulatory requirements. Assists the leaders and team members with the completion of audit schedules for revenue, revenue deductions, patient accounts receivable and settlement receivables requested by the audit firm to ensure accuracy and timely completion. Serves as a resource to the members of the team and assists with special projects as needed. Assists in resolving third party denials received as well as reimbursement appeals and problems. Provides in- service training programs for departmental billing personnel and clinical faculty. Job Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field preferred, but not required Experience: 1 years of healthcare finance or business-related healthcare field preferred. Medicare cost report or revenue cycle experience desired. License/Certification: CPA or MBA desirable, but not required Special Skills/Training: Strong analytical, advanced spreadsheet, and database skills. Knowledge of health care reimbursement practices, regulatory requirements, and Medicare Cost report desired. Working knowledge of EPIC, Lawson, Workday systems a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with management and leadership throughout the system. Able to work independently and meet firm deadlines.
