We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated Scientific 3 at Genentech in the Department of Discovery Oncology. S/he will lead biology studies for drug discovery projects focusing on developing molecular glue inhibitors. In parallel, s/he will utilize genomic and proteomic approaches to capture and characterize drug-insensitive cell states and to identify vulnerabilities of such cell states that could be exploited therapeutically. The position will involve close collaboration and study coordination with other Research labs including Translational Oncology, Proteomics, Bioinformatics, Discovery Chemistry, NGS core lab, and other core drug discovery groups. This is an ideal position for a Scientific Researcher who is enthusiastic about delving deep into the basic biology of drug mechanisms of action and gaining drug discovery experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing cellular, biochemical, and molecular biology techniques including imaging, biochemical characterization of protein-protein interactions, cell line model generation, next-generation sequencing, and other cell-based assays. Who you are: Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Cell/Molecular Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of research experience working with cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Postdoctoral work is preferred but not required for exceptionally qualified graduate students. Efficient time management and the ability to work on several projects simultaneously are essential. Attention to detail and an ability to integrate basic science learning with drug discovery efforts are a must. Candidates are expected to independently plan and execute experiments, interpret results, and proactively solve problems. The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple research teams. A strong track record of research productivity including a solid publication record is required. Prior experience with next-generation sequencing including scRNA-seq, ChIP-seq, Cut&Run-seq, and ATAC-seq, and bioinformatics knowledge are preferred. Preferred: As such the position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, the desire to learn about and integrate multiple aspects of drug discovery, and a passion for basic science research. Relocation benefits are available for this posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is between $100,200 and $186,000 of the hiring range.of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
