Staff Optical Test Engineer

Staff Optical Test Engineer Infinera’s Maryland office is looking for an enthusiastic Engineer to help build the next-generation optical communication system. As a member of the Subsea Development team, the candidate will have the opportunity to work with industry-leading technology in a fast-paced environment. The key responsibilities for this position include test & analysis of Subsea specific features and functionality. The candidate will participate in the development and testing of subsea specific software tools, and use those tools to configure and test subsea systems using equipment configurations local to the MD office, and remotely with systems in India. Other testing responsibilities include calibration, optical DVT, and debug of products including EDFAs, Raman amplifiers, ROADMs, OPM, OCM, optical switches, OTDR, spectrum equalizers, and other advanced optical modules, as they are used in subsea applications. Requirements: Experience debugging hardware and firmware Experience with electrical and optical test equipment Experience with implementing automated test scripts Programming skills in MATLAB, VB, and other scripting languages Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills Excellent teamwork and personal leadership skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Education & Experience: 2 – 3 years of engineering experience with a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline 3 – 5 years of experience with Master’s degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering At least 7 years of experience integrating various and adjacent disciplines for product development, as well as calibration automation, test automation, electrical, FPGA, FW, SW Position: This is a full-time position located in the Infinera Maryland office **Please note that Infinera has adopted a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees.
