Metrology Engineer

Job Description: Metrology and RICH Engineer Bloom Energy, a fuel cell company and one of Silicon Valley’s most promising startups, is looking for a Metrology and RICH Engineer to join its world-class team. Roles and Responsibilities: Lead the maintenance and PM’s of electromechanical control systems for manufacturing. Provide day to day engineering support for existing automated equipment. Routinely audit the equipment for gaps in safety and compliance. Be the domain specific expert in regards RIC-H processing and the associated equipment. Assist RIC-H specialists with equipment changes, upgrades, and repairs. Design process or mechanical improvements for RIC-H equipment. Monitor RIC-H part quality and throughput to address any process drift. Maintain Ladder Logic software programs and provide any necessary changes for maintainability, process improvements, and safety. Willing to work cross functionally equipment and maintenance teams. Takes initiative to solve problems and design solutions as required. Must be hands on and willing to assist in mechanical/electrical builds of tools. Must be safety oriented and ensure the safety of team members through engineering designs. Manage safety and training of team members Support and repair all Inspection equipment and laser equipment on the line Manage day to day inspection issues and adapt inspection parameters on existing equipment Work with OEM to update or repair inspection algorithms based on the changing nature of our product and process Create maintenance guides and train technicians for all new inspection updates Understand and react to abnormal events and coordinate containment and countermeasure activities in a cross functional environment Perform daily monitoring of all inspection systems and laser parts and send out daily reports to team regarding all inspections and key findings Up to 10% travel both domestic and international Education and Experience: BS, or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar. 2-3 years of experience in industrial controls engineering. Experience trouble shooting control systems in Ladder Logic. Knowledge of Industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus RTU. Experience with equipment safety standards and lock out tag out requirements. Working knowledge of Allen Bradley Studio 5000 and its related software suite. Ability to competently decipher wiring diagrams. Experience with high voltage equipment up to 480 VAC. Experience with repairing electrical and mechanical systems in automated equipment. Experience building UL508A compliant electrical panels. Experience with specifying off the shelf actuators, sensors, and other devices for specific applications. Working knowledge of functional safety and design of safety circuits. Working knowledge of applicable standards such as NFPA 79 and UL508A. Knowledge of high power laser systems and their safety requirements Knowledge of hazardous material handling protocols and compliance Knowledge of high power laser systems and CDRH/FDA permitting requirements Ability to trouble shoot PC software and hardware issues Ability to drive to both Sunnyvale and Fremont factories About Bloom Energy: Bloom Energy will make clean, reliable energy affordable for everyone in the world.
