Newport News Gastroenterology, Part Time Opportunity Overview Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel to ensure optimum patient care. What you will do Provides complete patient assessment, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, and pre-examination procedures. Assesses patient’s medication management to include patient compliance, inventory, and educational needs. Assists the providers in all aspects of the consultation, treatment, procedures, and follow-up care. Documents data and assessments in the patient record. Provides patient/family health counseling and education as needed to include but not limited to medications, procedures, and testing. Answers My Chart messages or telephone calls from patients same day. Performs triage. Communicates timely with providers, vendors, and other team members. Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately in order to facilitate safe, quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates practice support needs and identifies resources to meet the needs. Actively engages in practice activities to assure patient and team safety. Completes patient consults and testing orders, insurance pre-certification, and documentation appropriately to assure proper reimbursement. Documents billing codes at the end of each nursing visit as required. Routes notes to providers for co-signatures as required.
