Job Title: Product Development Engineer Job Description: Are you a collaborative and creative Engineer? CMC Materials, Inc. is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support our slurry product lines. In this role, you will assume ownership for ensuring new product robustness, product quality, and the successful scaling of products and processes to high-volume manufacturing at CMC manufacturing sites globally. Duties and Responsibilities Partners with formulation scientists to fully understand product and process requirements Conducts hazard reviews for all aspects of new formulations and processes to proactively identify and mitigate any potential risks Creates pilot-scale procedures and provides training for pilot plant operators Summarizes and presents trial data to formulation scientists Owns the planning and execution of routine product evaluation studies to ensure a full understanding of the limitations of products characteristics Responsible for the execution of non-standard experiments to collect data so that the causes of variation in slurry performance can be understood and solutions offered to ensure predictable production Provides optimized process designs for new product Introductions with an emphasis on all aspects of safety, quality, and production efficiency Develops and manages project timelines, success criteria, issues, risks, opportunities, and assumptions to drive the predictable execution of assigned projects Works with a multi-functional team at all levels of the organization including R&D, Operations, Quality, Finance, Legal, and Procurement to efficiently complete assigned projects Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree – Chemical Engineering or related technical field required. 3 to 5 years demonstrated experience in the chemical process, semiconductor, food, or pharmaceutical industry with a background in process development, commercialization, pilot plant, quality, scale up, or manufacturing. At least 3 years of project management experience as the owner for project definition, timelines, and deliverables. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and navigate ambiguity to successfully achieve objectives. Exceptional written and presentation skills. Six Sigma DFSS or DMAIC GB and knowledge/application of related tools preferred. Skills & Abilities Results-driven, a strong work ethic with a high sense of urgency, accountability, and initiative. Continuous improvement mindset with a high tolerance for ambiguity. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with an ownership mentality. Comfortable with challenging ideas and professionally managing to a solution. Effective communicator, both written and verbal. Business acumen with strong analytical skills.
