Job Overview
The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the organization and execution of production personnel, job schedule, and site workflow to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals. This entails a range of work including personnel scheduling, work in progress planning and monitoring, continuous improvement assurance, and site/asset maintenance. This position involves daily planning and oversight, trouble shooting and problem solving in a custom fabrication environment, and regular job review to improve material yield and time utilization.
Responsibilities
- Manage flow throughout the manufacturing operation
- Manage the production schedule so that client expectation are met
- Plan, schedule, and report effectiveness of production activities
- Increase work efficiency by ensuring job start readiness and balanced resource alignment
- Evaluate departmental processes for lean opportunities
- Adapt to changes and respond to customer demands
- Identify and deploy cross trained resources to shorten WIP time
- Balance multiple priorities to maximize resources and identify bottlenecks
Qualifications
- Certifications in scheduling/production management preferred though not required
- Prior experience working as a Production Coordinator or Scheduler in the industry preferred, though not required
- Strong understanding of value stream and how to help reduce non-value time
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and proficient with MS Office suite
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sharp business acumen and urgent motivation
- High regard for quality assurance
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
Summary
A successful Production Coordinator will collaborate throughout the enterprise to deliver achievable production schedules. This position will work closely with the Operations Manager and Sales team to meet or exceed client expectations. This individual will regularly lead internal dialogue to coordinate the consumption of time and materials to best meet deadlines and cost estimates. The Production Coordinator leads development and utilization of ERP to achieve best standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
