Trimble MAPS is looking for a Senior Business Analyst. The Senior Business Analyst at Trimble MAPS reports to the Product Operations Manager and works with Product, Engineering, QA and Support. Purpose: A Senior Business Analyst at Trimble MAPS is responsible for ensuring that the Product requirements have been broken down into actionable work items on the product backlog. The Senior Business Analyst reviews the product backlog items to certify the business rules are covered and the acceptance criteria or steps to reproduce are well-defined and meets the required functionality. On a day-to-day basis, they will work for the benefit of the development team to ensure the work items on the backlog meets the development team’s definition of ‘Ready’. The Senior Business Analyst maintains the ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business flows and performs gap analysis that results in detailed user requirements. Responsibilities: Responsible for clearly understanding the Product Owner’s backlog priority and assisting the Product Owner in setting the backlog priority to maximize the development team’s success. Collaborates with the development team to refine the acceptance criteria related to new requirements Triage, classify and validate reported bug tickets to minimize sprint interference Perform User Acceptance Testing and guide QA on test plans to ensure the test suite is comprehensive Responsible for understanding the customer business rules to ensure the development team is building a product that provides value to the customer. Maintain and distribute release notes to users, stakeholders and other interested parties Work with the development team daily to answer questions, remove roadblocks, and assist the Product Owner in reviewing/approving stories being developed. Conduct the necessary research and analysis to fully understand the customers’ needs and requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or EE with experience building software. 3 years experience as a member of an Agile software development team 5 years experience working as a Quality Assurance Analyst, Technical Writer or Business Analyst 3 years experience working directly with a software development team Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, desired Practice writing Gherkin-based acceptance criteria is a plus. Business Analyst Skills: Proven ability to translate product requirements into user stories, tasks, etc. Can demonstrate techniques for quickly and effectively understanding a customer domain and product Demonstrate ability to elucidate functional and technical requirements from the Product Owner/Development team Demonstrate an understanding of ‘User Story Mapping’ and how to identify and create them Ability to conduct and document a gap analysis. Agile Knowledge: Has the ability to… Explain agile values and principles Demonstrate how to conduct story mapping and user story writing sessions to create a product backlog Explain various ways to create user stories and document acceptance criteria. Meeting Facilitation: Can illustrate examples of how to prepare for and run effective meetings Demonstrates skills facilitating remote meetings with participants across multiple locations.
