GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for managing quality systems and food safety initiatives in a 24-hour manufacturing setting. The QA Supervisor provides back-up for the QA Manger with help from the field quality manager and provides support for external audits, as well as internal projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assures Quality conformance to specifications and expectations for all products and processes. Follows up with supervision/management on all exceptions and corrective actions. Communicates quality programs and specifications to quality team.
· Supervise all testing procedures, hold resolution, equipment calibration, etc., and coordinate with other departments to ensure all work is done in a timely, accurate, efficient and effective manner. Disposition of held goods (raw, finished and in process) including communication and execution of sampling plans.
· Execute Safe Quality Foods (SQF) programs at the front line/shop floor level. Promotes a food safe environment.
· Helps maintain EMP (Environmental Monitoring Program) with assistance of Sanitation Department
· Works with sensory teams to assure that program is operating in accordance with expectations.
· Develops/trains quality team members and hourly personnel in quality awareness, food safety and other related areas.
· Monitors SQF program effectiveness and conformance. Helps review current SQF code and becomes familiar with all standards and requirements. Compares the current FS (Food Safety) Plan in place and determines if it meets the current standards as stated in the code.
· Supervise and/or monitor department and Company employees to ensure compliance with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) by all. Performs plant post sanitation and food safety audits according to program, including with visitors from our customer food manufacturing companies, NSF (National Sanitation Foundation), the Food and Drug Administration, or the State Dept. of Agriculture.
· Collects Quality scoring (QI) data and constructs regular reporting per program. Assists QA Manager with regular reporting initiatives and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) reviews.
· Works with Business Quality, PD (Product Development), and/or R & D (Research and Development) team on new product and product improvement initiatives. Coordinates collection and shipment of samples and data as requested
· Participates in or leads identity preserved audits (Non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism), GFCO (Gluten-Free Certification Organization), Organic, Kosher, etc).
· Performs or assigns responsibility to perform the routine internal food safety audits to stay current for facility conditions and needs and to maintain and auditor's perspective.
· Reviews raw material quality information for conformance to standards.
· Monitors pest control documentation and assist with program maintenance.
· In the absence of the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor will act as back-up for tasks within the food safety system
· May perform other duties as required.
COMPLEXITY AND SCOPE:
The position works with QA Coordinators for job plans, organizing, supervising, controlling, and evaluating the work of direct reports. This position gives input and particular weight in decision making for interviewing, hiring, appraising performance, rewarding and discipline, firing and/or change in status. This job has approximately 19 direct reports in the following jobs: Coordinator, Process Technician, Technician, and Raw Receiver.
Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day quality and food safety initiatives. This position oversees all quality technicians for their assigned shift(s). Authority includes communication and appropriate policy and programs, identification of quality opportunities, corrective action initiatives and follow-up.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Food Science (or a related field).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: a minimum of 2-3 years' experience
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Must have or be able to obtain HACCP, PCQI, and SQF certification.

% OF TRAVEL REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: Minimal travel required; approximately 5%.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee must be able to sit most of the day, typing and using the phone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee can become exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or hot/humid conditions and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Floors are often slippery with water, oil, and dust.
The QA Manager will be responsible for backfilling this position when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$61,800-$97,800Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
