Summary: Provides quality care for our patients by assisting the physician with medical procedures and administrative tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Greet patients and prepare them for physician exam.
- Maintain, review, and update patient electronic medical record.
- Perform/assist physician with necessary medical procedures, as designated by physician
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician
- Review, prepare, document, and administer injections as directed by physician.
- Obtain specimens and process accordingly.
- Communicate test results to patients and physicians.
- Maintain examination rooms and lab ensuring cleanliness.
- Stock lab, exam rooms, and baby scales with adequate supplies.
- Clean and sterilize supplies and equipment.
- Perform select administrative duties, such as answering telephones, completing forms, scanning, faxing, and shredding.
- Communicate to Back Office Coordinator any waiting/exam room delays
- Assist Management/Back Office Coordinator as necessary with patient flow.
- Inform every patient of any prolonged wait time following office established policies and procedures.
- Respond to telephone messages following office established policies and procedures.
- Perform opening/closing/lunchtime procedures.
- Ensure that supplies are put away in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that work area is neat and clean throughout the day.
- Assist in scheduling and obtaining reports from specialists, lab, hospitals, and diagnostic testing with outside facilities.
- Check sharps and biohazard bags/containers and change as needed.
- Maintain patient reading materials and clear excess from exam rooms.
- Perform clean-up of biohazardous material following OSHA guidelines.
- Take initial steps to resolve patient issues.
- Any and all other duties assigned by management

Education and/or experience
Minimum – Certified Medical Assistant.
Computer experience required.
Language skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and employees of the organization
Mathematical skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals.

Computer skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Eclinical Works or other Medical Record Software Database software
