The Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics is an integral part of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, a leading research institution, and UM’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The division is also a full member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). The division has comprehensive programs in oncology, neuro-oncology, sickle-cell disease, stem cell transplantation, and hemophilia, and excellent opportunities for participation in clinical and/or translational research collaborations are available within existing programs in tumor biology and immunology, tolerance, and graft-versus-host-disease. Job Description: The Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Assistant Professor of Clinical shares clinical responsibilities with other division members in the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Specific responsibilities include: Providing clinical care of pediatric hematology-oncology inpatients and outpatients at Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial Hospital and at Alex’s Place, located in UM’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Staffing two half-day coagulation clinics per week and additional other clinics as assigned. Further developing the Hemophilia Treatment Center by designing and implementing a dedicated pediatric thrombosis/anticoagulation program. Organizing and conducting new clinical and translational research in the field of pediatric hematology with emphasis in hemostasis disorders. Serving as sub-investigator in the division on existing industry protocols with oversight of study patients. Participating in collaborative research efforts and clinical trials in conjunction with ongoing research protocols at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and in the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), of which the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology is a full member. Supervising Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellows and house staff. Participating in didactic training to medical, nursing, and ancillary health care staff. Participating in administrative activities within Holtz Children’s Hospital and/or the Department of Pediatrics as assigned, including serving as Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship program. Staffing the monthly pediatric coagulation satellite clinic at the UHealth Plantation facility. Staffing the monthly multidisciplinary dedicated Girls’ Clinic (Cycle clinic) at Alex’s Place, in addition to routine scheduled clinic slots. Candidates must have an MD/DO, be board-certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology- Oncology and be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Florida. The ability to work efficiently and independently as part of collaborative groups is required. Patients are seen at the 250-bed Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial Hospital and at Alex’s Place in UM’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Department of Pediatrics has a large residency program, and the Hematology- Oncology Division operates a fellowship program.
